The client resides in a suburban neighborhood in Plano, TX. They desired a backyard retreat that would cater to relaxation and entertainment, accommodate their family gatherings, and provide them with an escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The project aimed to overhaul the existing backyard completely, incorporating elements of functionality, sustainability, and visual appeal. The client valued creating distinct areas for relaxation, dining, and recreation. Another goal was to incorporate a variety of native plants and trees to enrich the natural beauty of the landscape. They also wanted to implement eco-friendly practices such as water-efficient irrigation and native plant selection.
We conducted a thorough site analysis to assess the existing conditions and understand the client’s vision. This involved soil testing, drainage evaluation, and consideration of local climate and environmental factors. Based on the findings, a comprehensive design plan was developed. The design incorporated natural stone and pavers to create pathways and patios providing structure and defining different backyard areas. Native plants and drought-tolerant species were carefully chosen to thrive in the Texas climate while minimizing water usage and maintenance requirements. A mix of ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and evergreen shrubs added texture and color throughout the landscape.
