Keane Landscape completed a transformative backyard project for a residential client in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, TX. The project included a comprehensive pool remodel, the addition of a spa, a new landscape design, an IPE deck installation, and the construction of a sauna and cold plunge.

The client desired to upgrade their outdated backyard into a luxurious, multifunctional outdoor living space that could serve as a personal retreat and an entertainment hub. Their vision included a modernized pool, an inviting spa, lush landscaping, a durable and stylish deck, and wellness features such as a sauna and cold plunge.

Upon initial consultation, our team thoroughly assessed the existing backyard. The pool was outdated and needed resurfacing, the surrounding landscape lacked visual appeal, and the existing patio area was insufficient for the client’s needs. Additionally, the space required careful planning to incorporate the new elements harmoniously.

Several challenges were encountered in addressing this project. The outdated pool required significant work to modernize, the limited space necessitated a strategic layout to fit all desired features, and the sauna and cold plunge installation required special considerations for plumbing and electrical systems.

We began with the pool remodel. The old pool surface was stripped, and a new, high-end pebble finish was applied. The pool’s coping was replaced with natural stone, and new, contemporary waterline tiles were installed to enhance the aesthetic appeal. We also installed energy-efficient LED lighting to create a striking visual effect at night. A modern, integrated filtration and heating system was added to improve the pool’s functionality and ease of maintenance.

Next, we focused on the spa addition. The spa was designed to complement the pool, featuring a custom shape and size to fit seamlessly into the existing layout. We used matching materials for the spa’s finish and coping to ensure a cohesive look. The spa was equipped with powerful jets and a state-of-the-art heating system to provide a luxurious and relaxing experience (pictures attached).

We selected various plants that thrive in the Dallas climate for the landscape design, incorporating native species to ensure sustainability and reduce water usage. The design included vibrant flowers, shrubs, and trees, creating a lush and inviting environment. We added stone pathways and garden beds to define the space and provide easy access to different backyard areas.

The IPE deck installation was a key component of the project. IPE wood was chosen for its longevity and aesthetic appeal. The deck was designed to provide ample space for lounging and dining, with a sleek, modern look that complemented the overall design. We included built-in seating and planters to enhance functionality and integrate the deck seamlessly with the landscape.

The wellness area was carefully planned and constructed, featuring a sauna and cold plunge. The sauna, made from high-quality, sustainably sourced wood, was designed for comfort and efficiency. It was equipped with a modern heater and ventilation system to ensure a pleasant and relaxing experience. The cold plunge, a key feature for post-sauna cooling, was installed adjacent to the sauna, with a compact and efficient design. The sauna and cold plunge required careful planning for plumbing and electrical systems, which were expertly integrated to ensure safety and functionality.

Throughout the project, we maintained clear communication with the client, providing regular updates and incorporating feedback to ensure their vision was realized. Our team adhered to a strict timeline and budget, completing the project on schedule and within the agreed-upon costs.

The outcome was a stunning backyard transformation that exceeded the client’s expectations.
