Landscape in Norman, TX

Our clients recently moved into their new home in Norman, TX. They have a large backyard overlooking a scenic lake. However, the backyard does not reflect their vision of a beautiful and functional outdoor space. There is no defined path or seating area; they want to transform it into a peaceful haven where they can relax and entertain guests.

Our objective was to create an overall landscape design plan that incorporated the stunning lake view and outdoor living features, such as a fire pit, seating area, and outdoor kitchen. We aimed to Install hardscape features like pathways, patios, and retaining walls to create separate outdoor activity spaces. We selected plants, shrubs, and trees that fit the local environment and their preferences while providing color and texture throughout the year

Our team began by developing a comprehensive landscape design plan, carefully considering the layout of the backyard, the client’s vision, and the local environment. The design included a variety of zones for outdoor cooking and dining, relaxation, and entertainment. The focal point of the design was a custom-built stone fire pit and seating area situated to take advantage of the lake views (images below). We designed the walkways and patios to mimic the curves of the lake’s shoreline, blending the hardscaping seamlessly into the environment. We also included a substantial retaining wall, which provided additional seating while creating a natural barrier between the high and low areas of the yard.

Our team selected a variety of plants, shrubs, and trees that thrived in the local environment and provided visual interest throughout the year. We incorporated native species whenever possible to promote pollinator activity, including a mix of deciduous and evergreen plants to ensure year-round beauty.

The final outdoor living space exceeded the client’s expectations. They now have a beautifully designed, functional outdoor space that incorporates all their desires. The natural stone elements in the hardscaping blend seamlessly with the environment, giving the landscape a natural and harmonious feel. The selection of plants, shrubs, and trees provides varying color and texture year-round, and the water feature adds a peaceful ambiance to the space. Additionally, the design provides a range of functional outdoor living spaces, including a custom-designed fire pit seating area for cozy nights by the lake and an outdoor kitchen perfect for entertaining guests.
